Ava-Sea Turtles

Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk

Animals, exhibits, Imax movies and more, the Maritime Aquarium is the place to be! Located on the waterfront in South Norwalk, the Maritime Aquarium focuses its exhibits solely on one body of water: our own Long Island Sound!  While the sea turtles are a favorite in this house, resident marine life at the aquarium includes, crabs, lobsters, mollusks, game fish, jelly fish, sharks, and even seals! The Ocean play space is a great area to let your little ones run off some extra steam before you head home.

Make sure you check out the “touch tank” where the aquarium offers hands-on learning with animals commonly found on the Long Island Sound shoreline.  The exhibit includes Sea Stars, horseshoe crabs, spider crabs and more, which your child can touch while learning about the animals from dedicated volunteers.  If this has stimulated your child’s sense of adventure then swing by the Shark and Ray Touch Pool where your child can touch nurse sharks and stingrays!  Have no fear moms and dads, the nurse sharks are super docile and the rays stinging barbs have been removed.

And no tour of the aquarium is complete without a stop at the Meerkats.  Take home a treasure from the extensive gift shop located within the aquarium focusing on science related activities , their favorite marine stuffed animal and more!

Tip:  Seal feedings are at 11:45, 1:45, and 3:45. A must see!
